It was ‘simply heavenly’ for the Big Bang
Club’s night out trip to in remote Mehwat in Haryana. The members were
treated to a sumptuous dinner, desert and a native Haryanvi cultural
show. Thereafter it was all planets, stars, Milky Way, darkness and the
starry eyed members. In the pollution free dark side away from the noise
and light pollution, the million stars twinkled in the wide open sky. We
learnt that a planisphere is just a plastic disc which when adjusted to
our latitude and time and month of the year, enabled to spot and name
the stars and planets with such élan that we kept gaping at the sky and
marveled at our own deftness and alertness. |

What we couldn’t learn sitting in a
classroom, we could learn it all on our first interaction with nature.
It was a ‘hands -on –experience’. The software provided to us would help
us learn and identify stars, planets and other celestial bodies. A truly
celestially enriching experience. |
